This week started off really difficult. On Monday both M. and our Polish investigator didn't show up to their appointments, and then dropped us. :( It is heartbreaking to see the people that you love so much already just abandon the gospel, and all that they have already learned. You know just to what magnitude the gospel can bless and change their lives, but ultimately you can't do much about it. I was honestly devastated after hearing that they didn't want to meet with us any more, and I didn't understand what had happened, because they were progressing so quickly. As I was thinking about it I remembered what one of my teachers at the MTC told us. She told a story of a similar experience on her mission, and how she had prayed to God demanding an answer as to why these people were quitting on her and the gospel. She told us that as she was praying to Heavenly Father she received a short but clear thought as an answer. "These are not your children." She bore her testimony that these things will happen, and that it will be frustrating, but that these people we're teaching aren't our children, but our loving Heavenly Father's children. He knows them, and he will give them the gospel again when they are ready to hear it.
On a happy note..
On Wednesday, Sister Hug and I kicked our butts into gear and stopped feeling sorry for ourselves. We went out and did our best to be obedient, diligent, and faithful missionaries. :) And guess what? Miracles started to happen. We found 2 whole Thai families that had a sincere desire to learn English and about the gospel of Jesus Christ. We have already taught them twice and they are always so enthusiastic about learning more. Also, K., the Romanian investigator who came for V's. whole baptism has really been progressing! He has read the entire Book of Mormon in just a week and then keeps telling us how incredible it is that the Book of Mormon has things that the Bible is simply missing. We also gave a lot of tours in the visitors center to people in our area, so we can continue to teach them. :) By the time that Sunday came we had 4 people at church, and 2 referrals from people who brought friends to church that day. It was so incredible! :) But, I know that we couldn't have done it without Christ. This work is already hard, but without him it would be impossible.
I hope everyone has a great summer week! :) Eat some icecream, go swimming, and read the Book of Mormon every single day. Love you all.
Love, Sister Croft
